📖 This Week's Story

Today we're going to learn about making a joyful noise to praise God! In our beautiful Maronite tradition, we sing and pray together just like God's people did long, long ago. Let me tell you about King David, who wrote many beautiful songs called psalms. David loved God so much that he couldn't help but sing! He would play his harp and sing praises to thank God for all His wonderful gifts. David wrote, 'Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!' He wanted everyone - not just grown-ups, but children too - to praise God with music and singing. Can anyone tell me what sounds you like to make when you're happy? David knew that God loves to hear our voices, even if we're not perfect singers! He used drums, trumpets, harps, and cymbals in the temple. The people would clap their hands and dance with joy! In Psalm 100, David tells us to 'serve the Lord with gladness' and 'come before Him with singing.' Just like in our Maronite liturgy, where we sing 'Alleluia' and beautiful hymns, God wants us to use our voices to praise Him. What's your favorite song we sing in church? David reminds us that making music for God isn't just about being loud - it's about having joy in our hearts! When we sing the 'Our Father' in Aramaic, the language Jesus spoke, we're continuing this ancient tradition of joyful praise. So remember, children, whenever you feel happy about God's love, don't keep it quiet - make a joyful noise! Sing, clap, and praise God with all your heart, just like King David did!
