📖 This Week's Story

Today we're going to learn about a beautiful parable Jesus told us called 'The Prodigal Son.' A parable is a special story that teaches us about God's love. Jesus told us about a father who had two sons. The younger son came to his father and said, 'Father, give me my share of money now!' This was very hurtful, but the loving father gave him the money anyway. The young son took all his money and went far away. He spent it on foolish things - fancy clothes, big parties, and expensive food. Soon, all his money was gone! He became so poor that he had to feed pigs and was so hungry he wanted to eat their food. Can anyone tell me how the son might be feeling now? That's right - sad and sorry! Finally, the son thought, 'Even my father's servants have food to eat. I will go home and tell my father I'm sorry.' So he began the long walk home. But here's the amazing part! While the son was still far away, his father saw him coming. The father ran to his son - yes, ran! - and hugged him tight. The son said, 'Father, I'm sorry! I don't deserve to be your son anymore.' But what do you think the father did? Did he stay angry? No! The father called for a big celebration with music, dancing, and the best food! This beautiful story shows us how much God loves us. Just like in our Maronite tradition during Lent, when we ask for forgiveness, God always welcomes us back with open arms. No matter what we do wrong, God's love never ends, and He's always waiting to forgive us when we say we're sorry.
