📖 This Week's Story

Today we're going to learn about a very special story that Jesus told called the Parable of the Mustard Seed. Jesus loved to teach people using stories called parables, and this one teaches us something amazing about God's Kingdom! One day, Jesus was sitting by the Sea of Galilee, teaching a big crowd of people. He wanted to help them understand what the Kingdom of Heaven is like. So Jesus said, 'The Kingdom of Heaven is like a tiny mustard seed that a farmer plants in his field.' Now, can anyone tell me what size a mustard seed is? That's right - it's very, very tiny! It's one of the smallest seeds you can find. You can barely see it in your hand! Jesus continued, 'Even though this little seed is so small, when the farmer plants it in the ground and waters it, something incredible happens. It grows and grows until it becomes a big, strong tree! The tree becomes so large that birds can come and build their nests in its branches.' What do you think Jesus was trying to teach us? Sometimes when we pray or do kind things for others, it might seem small and unimportant. But Jesus is telling us that even our smallest acts of love and faith can grow into something beautiful and big! In our Maronite tradition, we believe that when we gather together in church, even our small community can spread God's love far and wide, just like that tiny seed becomes a great tree. Remember, children: no matter how small we are, or how small our good deeds seem, God can use them to do amazing things! Even the tiniest seed of faith can grow into something wonderful.
