📖 This Week's Story

Today we're going to learn about a very special saint named Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, or as we say in Arabic, مار تريز. She lived in France about 150 years ago and showed us that even young people can become great saints! Thérèse was born into a loving Catholic family. When she was just a little girl, even younger than some of you, she already loved Jesus very much. She would pray every day and help her family with small acts of kindness. Can anyone tell me what small acts of kindness you do at home? When Thérèse was only 15 years old, she felt God calling her to become a nun. She wanted to dedicate her whole life to loving and serving Jesus. She joined a convent where she lived simply and prayed constantly. But here's what made Thérèse so special - she believed in doing small things with great love. She called this her 'Little Way.' Thérèse would sweep floors, help in the kitchen, and care for sick sisters, always with a smile and pure love in her heart. She wrote, 'I will spend my heaven doing good on earth.' Even when she became very sick, she never complained. She trusted God completely. What small things do you think you could do with great love, just like Saint Thérèse? Saint Thérèse died when she was only 24, but the Church recognized her holiness and made her a saint. In our Maronite tradition, we honor saints who show us how to live close to God through prayer and service. Remember, children: you don't have to do big, important things to please God. Like Saint Thérèse taught us, we can show our love for Jesus through small acts of kindness every single day!
