📖 This Week's Story

Today we're going to learn about the Beatitudes, or التطويبات, which are special teachings Jesus gave us about how to live happily with God. One day, Jesus saw many people following Him because they wanted to learn about God's love. He climbed up on a mountain and sat down, just like our teachers do when they have something very important to tell us. All the people gathered around Him in a big circle. Then Jesus began to teach them the most beautiful lessons! He said, 'Blessed are those who are kind to others, for God will be kind to them. Blessed are those who make peace, for they will be called God's children. Blessed are those who are gentle, for they will receive God's gifts.' Can anyone tell me what it means to be 'blessed'? That's right - it means to be very happy and loved by God! Jesus continued teaching, saying 'Blessed are those who help the poor, blessed are those who forgive others, blessed are those who are honest and good.' Each time Jesus said 'blessed,' He was telling the people how they could be truly happy - not by having lots of toys or candy, but by being loving and good to others. What are some ways we can be kind to others like Jesus taught? Yes, sharing, helping, and being gentle! In our Maronite tradition, we remember these teachings every time we pray and celebrate the Divine Liturgy. The Beatitudes are like a treasure map that shows us the path to happiness with God. When we follow Jesus's teachings about being kind, peaceful, and loving, we become truly blessed and make God smile. Remember, children, true happiness comes from having a good heart and loving others just as Jesus loves us.
