📖 This Week's Story

Today we're going to learn about Mary, the blessed Mother of Jesus! Mary was a young woman living in Nazareth when something amazing happened. God sent the angel Gabriel to visit her with wonderful news. The angel said, 'Do not be afraid, Mary! God has chosen you for something very special. You will have a baby, and His name will be Jesus. He will be the Son of God!' Mary was surprised but she trusted God completely. She said, 'I am God's servant. Let it happen as you have said.' Can anyone tell me what you think Mary felt when the angel visited her? Mary carried baby Jesus in her womb and gave birth to Him in Bethlehem. She loved Jesus so much and took care of Him as He grew up. When Jesus was grown and teaching people about God's love, Mary was there supporting Him. Even when Jesus died on the cross, Mary stood nearby, showing her great love and faith. Can you imagine how brave Mary was? After Jesus rose from the dead and went to heaven, Mary continued to pray with the apostles. In our Maronite tradition, we honor Mary in a very special way. We call her 'Theotokos,' which means 'God-Bearer' because she carried God's own Son in her womb. We pray to Mary and ask her to pray for us to Jesus, just like we might ask our own mothers to help us. Mary shows us how to say 'yes' to God and trust Him completely. She is our spiritual mother who loves us and wants to help us grow closer to her Son, Jesus. Let's always remember Mary's beautiful example of faith and love!
