The Golden Rule

Today we're going to learn about something very special that Jesus taught us called the Golden Rule - القاعدة الذهبية! This is one of the most important lessons Jesus ever gave us. One day, Jesus was sitting on a mountainside with many people who came to listen to His teachings. He looked at all the faces - young and old, rich and poor - and He wanted to give them a rule that would help them live good lives and be happy. Jesus said something amazing: 'Do to others what you would want them to do to you.' Can anyone tell me what that means? If you want someone to be kind to you, what should you do to them first? That's right! Be kind to them first! If you want friends to share with you, you should share with them. If you want people to help you when you're sad, you should help others when they're sad. Jesus taught this Golden Rule because He knew it would make the world a better place. When we follow this rule, we're showing God's love to everyone around us. In our Maronite tradition, we remember that Jesus spoke these words in Aramaic, the same language we still use in some of our beautiful prayers today. Let me ask you something else: If you saw someone sitting alone at lunch, and you remembered the Golden Rule, what would you do? Exactly! You would invite them to sit with you, because that's what you would want someone to do for you! The Golden Rule isn't just words - it's a way of living that makes Jesus happy and brings joy to our hearts. When we treat others the way we want to be treated, we're following Jesus's footsteps and showing His love to the world.
