📖 This Week's Story

Today we're going to learn about the most wonderful day in our faith - the Resurrection of Jesus! This is what we celebrate during Pascha, our beautiful Easter celebration. Three days after Jesus died on the cross, something amazing happened. Very early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to visit Jesus's tomb. But when she arrived, she discovered something incredible - the heavy stone had been rolled away from the entrance! Mary looked inside the tomb and gasped. Jesus's body was gone! She saw two angels dressed in bright white clothes sitting where Jesus had been lying. The angels asked her, 'Why are you crying?' Mary said, 'Because someone has taken my Lord away!' Can anyone guess what happened next? Then Mary turned around and saw a man standing behind her. At first, she didn't recognize him. The man asked, 'Why are you crying? Who are you looking for?' Mary thought he was the gardener. But then the man said her name: 'Mary!' Suddenly, she knew - it was Jesus! He was alive! Jesus had risen from the dead, just as he promised! Mary ran to tell the disciples the wonderful news: 'I have seen the Lord! He is alive!' What do you think the disciples felt when they heard this amazing news? In our Maronite tradition, we celebrate this glorious day during Pascha with special prayers, beautiful hymns, and joyful celebrations. We light candles to remember that Jesus is the light of the world who conquered darkness and death. Remember, children: Jesus's resurrection shows us that love is stronger than death, and that God's promises always come true. This is why we celebrate with such joy during Pascha!
