📖 This Week's Story

Today we're going to learn about one of Jesus's most amazing miracles - feeding five thousand people with just a little bit of food! One day, Jesus was teaching by the Sea of Galilee, and thousands and thousands of people came to hear Him speak. They listened all day long because Jesus's words were so wonderful. As evening came, the disciples were worried. They said to Jesus, 'Master, all these people are hungry, and we're far from town. Send them away so they can buy food.' But Jesus had a different plan. Can anyone guess what Jesus might do to help all these hungry people? Jesus asked His disciples, 'What food do we have here?' A young boy came forward with his small lunch - just five loaves of bread and two little fish. It wasn't very much food at all! The disciples thought, 'How can this tiny meal feed so many people?' But Jesus took the boy's lunch, looked up to heaven, and blessed it, just like we do when we pray before our meals in our Maronite tradition. Then something incredible happened! Jesus began breaking the bread and fish, and there was more and more food - enough for everyone! What do you think the people felt when they saw this miracle? All five thousand people ate until they were completely full, and there were even twelve baskets of leftover food! This miracle shows us that Jesus cares about all our needs, big and small. When we share what little we have, like the generous boy did, God can do amazing things. Jesus provides for us always, just like He provided for those hungry people long ago.
