📖 This Week's Story

Today we're going to learn about the shepherds who received wonderful news on the night Jesus was born! On that holy night in Bethlehem, there were shepherds in the fields watching over their sheep. It was dark and quiet, just like when you're sleeping at night. Suddenly, an angel of God appeared to them! The shepherds were very scared because they had never seen an angel before. But the angel said, 'Don't be afraid! I bring you good news of great joy. Today, in the city of David, a Savior has been born to you. He is Christ the Lord!' Can anyone tell me what good news the angel brought? That's right - Jesus was born! Then the angel told them, 'You will find the baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.' Suddenly, the whole sky filled with angels singing, 'Glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth!' The shepherds were so excited! They said to each other, 'Let's go to Bethlehem and see this wonderful thing!' So they hurried to find Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus, just as the angel had told them. When they found Jesus in the stable, they were filled with joy and told everyone about the amazing things they had seen and heard. What do you think the shepherds felt when they saw baby Jesus? In our Maronite tradition, we remember that God chose simple shepherds to be the first to hear about Jesus' birth. This shows us that God's love is for everyone - rich or poor, young or old. The shepherds remind us to share the good news of Jesus with others, just like they did!
